The Western Folklife Center invites you to experience Loud as Folk, hosted by founder Spike McGuire. A monthly songwriters showcase based in Reno, Loud as Folk is taking a trip down I-80 out here to Elko! Expect a collaboration of featured performances from Buffalo Moses & Rachael McElhiney (from Buster Blue), Greg Gilmore (from Silver), and Lorin Walker Madsen, with headliner Leroy Virgil (who’s band Hellbound Glory just finished recording their next album with producer Shooter Jennings). Read a fun article from our friends at Everything Elko.

Loud As Folk is a hub of the West coast songwriting scene focused on highlighting emerging artists with distinct approaches to all genres of American roots music; an incredibly talented network created by the monthly live showcase the first Thursday of every month at Reno’s Pignic Pub & Patio, hosted by LAF founder Spike McGuire. Audiences may witness anything from a Nashville style songwriters round to several artists joining together as a band that will only exist once.

Sponsored by the Western Folklife Center, this program has been funded, in part, by the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
