There’s Something for Everyone at the 26th National Cowboy Poetry Gathering

Elko, NV—There is something at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering for everyone to enjoy, from the poetry lover to the music afficionado to the closeted shower singer. If you like to sing old cowboy songs, join us around the proverbial campfire in the G Three Bar Theater, Thursday, January 28 at 1:00 pm, for the newest Gathering tradition—the Sing-Along Show. Whether you are someone with a melodious voice, or one who only dares to sing in the privacy of your shower stall, if you like to raise your voice in song, this show is for you. Dave Bourne's piano virtuosity and the musical talents of Andy Hedges and Andy Wilkinson, Liz Masterson and R.W. Hampton will make this Sing-Along one of the go-to events of the Gathering. The show will be recorded and a CD will be available in the gift shops starting on Saturday, January 30. Tickets are $25 and $35. The $35 ticket includes the CD, which will cost $15 when purchased individually.

For a mixture of the contemporary, the classic and the Celtic, don't miss Words Growing Wild, Thursday, January 28, at 8:30 pm in the Elko Convention Center Auditorium. Word-spurrin' poet Paul Zarzyski will share the stage with cowboy musician Dave Stamey and Canadian musical troupe Cowboy Celtic. Experience the words and music of the old and new West brought together with the traditional music of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England, where many of our cowboy classics originated. Tickets are $30 and $35 for this very special performance.

Hold Yer Horses! features Australian Bush Poets Milton Taylor and Carol Heuchan, classic reciter Jerry Brooks and popular cowboy musician Dave Stamey. Don't miss this show at 11:00 am Friday, January 29 in the Elko Convention Center Auditorium. It's guaranteed to pull on the heartstrings of horse lovers!

Boots and Pearls
showcases some of the tremendous younger talent at the Gathering, including Wyoming poet Andy Nelson, 18-year-old singing sensation Adrian, and the toe-tapping rhythms of the hot cowboy band from Canada, Corb Lund and the Hurtin' Albertans. Boots and Pearls is at 8:30 pm Friday, January 29, in the Elko Convention Center Auditorium.

Tickets for these shows and workshops can be purchased online at www.westernfolklife.org or by calling 888-880-5885.
