Western Folklife Center Hosts Play Your Hand
Learn How to Play Games on Wednesday Nights
at the Pioneer Saloon

Elko –  Beginning Wednesday, June 25, the Western Folklife Center will host a weekly community event featuring the games people play. Play Your Hand will highlight games played in the various cultural communities of Elko, starting with casino games and card dealing on June 25 at 6:00 pm, when the Red Lion Hotel and Casino will teach us how to deal cards and play the games of 21 and poker. Over a five-week period, every Wednesday night, a different game will be taught, including the Basque card game Mus; the Shoshone-Paiute hand game; La Loteria, a Mexican bingo game played by all ages; and classic games like Pinochle and Cribbage. Play Your Hand is free and will take place in the Pioneer Saloon. Lessons begin at 6:00 pm; everyone is welcome to join the play at 7:00 pm.
