A Traveling Exhibition in the
Western Folklife Center's Wiegand Gallery
September 22 to November 3, 2012
You are invited to an Opening Reception in the Wiegand Gallery at the Western Folklife Center to celebrate the presentation of the new exhibition, Explorer, Naturalist, Artist: John James Audubon and The Birds of America, on Friday, September 21 from 5:30 – 8:00 pm with welcome remarks and a tour at 6:30 pm. A spokesperson from the Nevada Museum of Art will be present to discuss the artwork on view during the reception. The reception is free as is admission to the exhibition during the reception.
Thanks to the exclusive sponsorship of Goldcorp USA, this special traveling exhibition of watercolor prints by one of the most important artists of the nineteenth century, John James Audubon, will be on view at the Western Folklife Center in Elko, September 22 through November 3, 2012. The exhibition Explorer, Naturalist, Artist: John James Audubon and The Birds of America, features 20 of Audubon’s most dramatic and life-sized watercolor depictions from the first-edition printing of The New York Historical Society Edition. All of the artworks in this exhibition are from Dana Rose Richardson Memorial Collection of Audubon Prints at the Nevada Museum of Art.
