The goal of the Western Folklife Center is to provide you with an entertainment experience that is educationally rich and personally meaningful. We strive to provide context for cowboy poetry, and to give you a full understanding of the places, the people and the lifestyle that inspire these traditions. We encourage you to participate in Gathering activities that connect you more deeply with the West and its cultural life. In addition to dozens of performances of cowboy poetry and music, the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering features special sessions and discussions, exhibits of western art and gear; hands-on workshops in writing, gearmaking, cooking and more; films about the West; lectures by prominent speakers; panel discussions of issues facing the rural West, ranch dances and late-night jam sessions. All these events contribute to the depth and richness of this one-of-a-kind celebration. |
