Make Your Own Deep West Video

Deep West Videos: The New "Westerns"

No shots are being fired. No blood is being shed. But a revolution is taking place in America: a storytelling revolution. The explosion of blogs, Facebook pages, and YouTube videos speaks to the rebirth that first-person storytelling is experiencing, and Deep West Videos are the perfect way for you to take part.

Tell your story by making your own Deep West Video! Proposals must reflect the mission of Deep West Video: ". . .to tell first-hand stories from the rural West that are rooted in the values of life on the land." Approved and completed videos will premier at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, where they continue to be among the most popular programs of the festival. They will also appear on the Western Folklife Center's YouTube Channel. Tell your story about rural life in the West, and share it at the 31st National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, scheduled for January 26-31, 2014.

These home-made videos use the tools of digital communication to tell simple yet elegant stories from the heart. These are not slick productions by professionals, but true blue stories from life on the range or in any rural place.
