Rodney Louis "Rod"  McQueary
July 16, 1951 ~ December 29, 2012

Rodney Louis Family and friends gathered to celebrate the life of Rodney Louis "Rod" McQueary in a memorial service at the Western Folklife Center on January 2, 2013. A future gathering in the full moon of July 2013 is planned.

Rod was born on July 16, 1951 in Elko, Nevada, the first son of Howard and Eloise McQueary. He was raised at the family ranch with younger brothers Lyle and Neil, attending schools in Ruby Valley and Elko, and was graduated 1969.

Rod and wife, Sue Wallis, married on the full moon of July in 1994 in Starr Valley, Nevada. Each brought beloved children to the union: Rod's children Porter, Ceci, Ian and Justine, and Sue's children Isaac, Megan and Rys.

Rod and Sue lived in Starr Valley, and were  very involved in the world of cowboy poetry and the Western Folklife Center, where Sue was employed. Rod and his brother-in-law Frank Wallis formed a company and produced websites and event management for the Folklife Center, the Red Lion Hotel & Casino, and others back in the day when websites had to be coded completely by hand.

The family relocated to the Wallis family ranch north of Recluse, Wyoming, at Christmas in 1998. Rod passed away in Cheyenne, Wyoming on December 29, 2012. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all.
